Ooh Aah Point!!!

Its been a while since I last wrote...
I have been busy...busy for nothing...:)

Well I wanted to talk about our small hike in Grand Canyon to Ooh- Aah Point.
But was waiting to get the original copies of the photographs(remember we forgot our camera)..:P
We must have met our frens a hundred time but just forget to get the snaps...
So I am going ahead with our Picasa download..:D
These snaps were clicked by our frens Deepak n Amruta. They just celebrated 6 month anniversary of their marriage...:)...

If you have been to Grand Canyon, you know that words fail to describe and pictures don't do justice.
And Ooh-Aah point just consolidates the fact.
Ooh-Aah Point is on the south Kaibab Trail.
South Kaibab Trail is considered one of the most beautiful trail on the South Rim of Grand Canyon. Its about 7.5 miles to Bright Angel Campground, which is at bottom of canyon. If you think that its only 7 miles just keep the fact in mind that there is around 5000 ft elevation...:P
For people like me who want to enjoy the panoramic views of Grand canyon and don't want to hike that much Ooh Aah point is there answer.

To get to Ooh-Aah point you have to take a shuttle to the South Kaibab Trailhead. There is a water fountain and lavarotary at the trailhead. Better make use of them here, you are not going to get any on trail..:). The point is only 0.9 miles from trailhead. The trail is steep but not dangerous. It would be great if you carry Hiking sticks. Your knees will be thankful.

Our descent was easy. The temperature was high but it was breezy(My hat took dive from my head a couple of time). I really looked funny runny after it. Don't try it, its dangerous ~ it being on the ledge of canyon n all.. The whole hike is near the ledge but its not dangerous. hehehe..contradictory statement..There are no rails. The trail is well maintained. Its made up of lots of switchbacks.

When you'll reach there the spectacular views in front of you gonna amaze you...
The vastness, the beauty hits you ~ awes you...silence you...Grand Canyon is something beyond definition..
So sit there, relax and enjoyii what nature has to offer you..

The climb back was much more harder. So that was a slow ascent..:P
But overall its a good hike, worth doing.

All those who know our kiddo, knows how crazy he's about HORSES!!! So in spirit of fueling his imagination I enrolled him in My Little Pony Class held by Redmond  Parks and Recreation. The class was held at Farrel McWhirter Farm. You can enroll for the class through their website  http://www.redmond.gov/ParksRecreation  and  http://www.redmond.gov/ParksRecreation/farrel-mcwhirter_farm_park_programs/ Our class was scheduled for 9.30 am and we got there much earlier. It helped the Cowboy to get settled in and check out the animals.  He came all dressed up in a cowboy hat(from his halloween costume). There were cows, pigs, bunnies, sheep, chickens n new little goat babies :)...                                                          This was our pony....aaaa..I forgot her name...:|  There were only two kids in the class. They were first told about horses and the brushes n tools used to keep them clean. They were then fitted with hel

Making Ghee (Clarified Butter) - From Butter

Indian Cuisine use Ghee in nearly every dish from savory Pulao/Biryanis to sweet Mithayis.  Traditionally in India Ghee is made from Cow's milk. Ghee has always been a sacred and celebrated symbol of auspiciousness, nourishment and healing; especially in the daily rituals of cooking and worship. It is thought of free from all impurities, milk residues(Lactose free), and moisture(high shelf life).                                            My mum makes Ghee from full cream that she carefully stores for days.  But here in US we don't cream when we heat the milk . So now I make Ghee at home from Unsalted butter which is quick and easy. I get unsalted butter from Costco...no one can beat Costco for their prices n quality. Ghee is clarified butter. and there is some difference between the two. Here's the process I use the make Ghee. 1. Get Unsalted Butter bricks. Use as many sticks you want to use at one time. I usually use 8- 12 sticks at one time
